SAMUEL POWZUN December 6, 1926 - July 18, 2001 Surrounded by the love of his family, Samuel Powzun passed away July 18, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Nettie with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage last fall; daughter Angela (John) Jasnikowski; daughter Virginia (Jim) Poklitar; granddaughters, Holly, Nicole and Rachael; sisters, Katie Johnson, Sophie Ostopchuk and Mary Kuslak; brother Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Irene; and brothers, Panko, Michael, John and Harry. Samuel was born in Hnausa, MB on the family homestead, where he was raised and continued to visit. He enjoyed the garden, the bounty of which he shared with family and friends. He took us berry and mushroom picking. He liked old-tyme country music and dancing. He started working at an early age, first as a fisherman on Lake Winnipeg, then moving to Winnipeg with his family. He became employed with BACM Construction where he worked for 27 years as a cement finisher and eventually a foreman. He was a dedicated worker, retiring in 1991 enjoying his yard, flowers, his woodcrafts, visiting with neighbours, family get-togethers and spending time with his grandchildren for whom he always had special gifts. We will all miss his sense of humour and his kind and generous ways. The family would like to thank Emergency and MICU staff for their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 22 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Chapel. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Sleep, sleep, our loved one Someday, well be together We know not when To clasp your hand and Never to part again.
