SALVATORE PROVITINA Salvatore Provitina passed away quietly and peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2001 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughter Grazia Isabelle Jay; and stepdaughter Hope Judie and husband Ben, and their children, Joshua and Emma Salome. Sal was predeceased by his parents, Maria Graziella and Giovanni Provitina. Sal was born in Palermo, Italy and came to Canada in the early 1960s. He worked as a chef with the Mandels Balmoral Hotel for the longest time and enjoyed his stay at Villa Cabrini Inc. He struggled with an illness for several years and we remember the loving memories he has given to us all. Lamay will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27 in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Home at 232 Kennedy St. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 28 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Stafford at Corydon, with Rev. Fr. Peter Monty S.J. the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. His family would like to thank the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for being so good to him in his time of need.
