Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANKO (JOHN) POTKONJAK Peacefully, on Friday, August 10, 2001 at the Lynn Lake General Hospital, Mr. Janko (John) Potkonjak, aged 80 years, beloved husband of Bogdona (Bosa) Potkonjak of Lynn Lake. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Simons Anglican Church, Silver Avenue, with Pastor Curtis Reimer and Pastor Bill Penner officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Lake Cemetery. Viewing will be held between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. prior to the service, also at the church. John was born on February 14, 1921 in Gopic, Yugoslavia. He left Yugoslavia for the Second World War ending up in a detention camp in Italy. After the war he travelled and worked in countries like Italy, France and the British Isles and eventually ending up in Canada during the early 1950s. He came to settle in Lynn Lake in 1953 and was hired at Sherritt Gordon Mines where he used his skill as a blacksmith. After a few years of working he sent for his lovely Bogdona. He retired from Sherritt Gordon Mines in 1986 and devoted his time to his tinkering, hobbies and his garden. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Bogdona and son Stevo (Tammy) and grandson Ty of Lynn Lake. Plus numerous relatives and friends in Canada, Yugoslavia and the United States.
