WALTER A. BUHR Peacefully on September 19, 2001 at Deer Lodge Hospital, Walter passed away at the age of 86. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; son Doug (Linda) daughter Mary (Bob) grandchildren, Shawn Buhr, Erica and Amanda Pufall; brothers, Arthur, Harold, and Bob; sisters, Alma, Louise and Eva as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Wally was born in Morse, SK in 1915. He started his 44 year career with the Hudsons Bay Company in 1934 and transferred to the fur trade side of the company in 1937. After spending three years in the Eastern Arctic, he joined the RCAF in 1942 where he served for three years as an outstanding pilot trainer. He met his beloved wife in Calgary and they were married in 1944. Together they spent the next seven years in the Eastern Arctic and at Moose Factory, ON. Wally then became the District Manager for Northern Manitoba, based in Winnipeg. Described by many as an honest, upright, gentleman, Wally lived life to the fullest. He and Margaret enjoyed travel, volunteer work (Meals on Wheels, Victoria Life Line, and Kiwanis), and he was a long time member of the Fort Garry United Church where he served as a Steward and Elder. He golfed and curled at the Wildwood Club and enjoyed making sawdust. His family and time with them were all important. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. A reception will follow at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. Hayward, Home Care and the nurses and staff at Deer Lodge Hospital who took such good care of him. In lieu of flowers friends may donate to the Parkinson Society of Canada, 204-825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5.
