DOUGLAS KEITH STOW Sunday, September 23, 2001, Doug passed away suddenly in Sorel, PQ. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley, daughter Lorraine Reimer (John), sons, Murray (Lynette) and David, also by Shirleys family, daughters, Sandra Hirschfeldt (Bob), Donna Hebert (Martial), Loree Laramee (Dave) and Jim Langseth. Doug is also survived by his first wife Kay; eleven grandchildren, Kyle and Colin Reimer, Mark and Meara Stow, Jeffrey and Mark Hirschfeldt, Michel and Janine Hebert, and Eric, Jocelyn and Christian Laramee. Surviving brothers, are Alex (Pam), Reg (Beverly), and Jim (Janice), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, T. James and Bessie Stow. Doug was born and raised in Graysville where he spent his early years working on the family farm. Following his participation in 4-H as a member and leader, Doug developed a love for showing purebred cattle. He attended Brandon Agricultural School before returning to the farm where he was always active in his church and community. Doug married Kay in 1958, raised a family of three, and farmed together with his brothers. Later he was employed as a consultant by the Manitoba Department of Indian Affairs. In 1977 Doug and his brothers, Alex and Jim, established Stow Seed Processors which became well known in the grain industry. Doug married Shirley in 1992 and together they created many wonderful memories which will always be cherished. For over five years Doug has been a Commissioner with the Canadian Grain Commission in Winnipeg. Through this work he enjoyed the opportunity to meet and work with many fine people. Dougs legacy will be his strong faith in God, his love of family, his enjoyment of all his grandchildren, a love of the land and the beauty that surrounded him. A memorial service will be held at the Carman United Church in Carman, MB. on Friday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon and Rev. Cathie Waldie officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Carman United Church Building Fund, Box 1177, Carman, MB, ROG OJO. Doyles of Carman in care of arrangements.
