He then worked for the Province of Manitoba (Bridge Division) for 32 years until his retirement in 1999. Olafur enjoyed all sports, especially hockey. He played goalie for the Riverton Lions Hockey team in the early 60s. Olafur loved the outdoors. Most of his free time was spent hunting, fishing, and trapping. He liked nothing better than visiting with his dear friend Dougie Bjarnason swapping hunting stories (we still dont know how many of them were true). Olafur loved playing cards, and drinking coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed country music and could sing and yodel right along with the best of them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved them all dearly. He is going to be sadly missed by his family, especially his grandchildren. He will also be missed by his special friends, Troy, Shaylee and Aubry. His grandchildren will be his honorary pallbearers. Rusty Johannson will be the urnbearer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Trudy Sleuth officiating. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. Goda Nott Afi Gilbart Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.

Olafur was more like a big brother than an uncle. We shared many memorable times together which I recount often. He passed on much too soon. We had many more memories to create and share. I miss him every day! - Posted by: ALLAN JOHNSON (Nephew) on: Apr 05, 2015
