Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES STANLEY QUINN Peacefully on October 30, 2001 at the age of 91 years, Jim passed away at the Victoria Hospital. Jim was predeceased by his first wife Sally; brothers, Charlie and George; sister Dorothy (at age eight). He is survived by his dearly beloved wife Phyl; daughters, Maureen McGregor, Judy (Don) Wittman; granddaughters, Tannis McGregor, Karen and Kristen Wittman; grandson David Wittman; and brother Wesley (Lois) extended family, Anthony, Donna (Paul) grandchildren, Geoffrey and Jennifer Reimer, Jim (Linda), Jennifer Allott; relatives, Thelma, Agnes and Howard, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Winnipeg on April 22, 1910 and grew up loving sports and music. He graduated from St. Johns High School. His love of machinery took him into the construction business where he worked for years as a crane operator then started his own business J. S. Quinn Construction Company and expanded into the north with Nor-Quinn and Nor-toba Construction. One of the founders and first chairman of Prairie Road Builders, later known as The International Road Builders, he helped build the town of Thompson from 1957 to 1967. Jim was a member of the Masonic Order, an Honorary Life member of the Winnipeg West Rotary, 1954, an Honorary Life member of the Manitoba Seniors Golf Association, Thistle Club, a member of Granite Curling Club, a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary) Member of the Royal Canadian Seniors Golf Club with which he and Phyl had many wonderful trips. He was a member of the Niakwa Golf Club. Jim had a real love of the game of golf and he spent many hours with his friends in their group of the 4 WS. He also thoroughly enjoyed Rotary and their annual Chicken Fry. Jim suffered a massive stroke in 1984 in Florida, losing his speech and paralyzing him on the right side keeping him at home for 18 years. He fought the great fight with courage and dignity, never losing his sense of humour. Special thanks go out to Dr. G. Wollner, The HomeCare staff of Dianna, Jules, Kevin and the rest of the staff for their kindness and care over these many years. Also a very special thanks to granddaughter Jennifer for her many years of care and thoughtfulness. Jim was a truly great gentleman with a love and generosity for his fellow man. There will be a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and a reception for family and friends will be held at 222 Girton Blvd. Pallbearers will be Rotarians, George Chapman, Ernie Halligan, Charlie Harvey, Jack Hignell, Burton Kennedy, Don McKenzie, Dick Robson, Jack Roberts and Karen Krysanski.
