JOHN ALLAN RAMSAY December 26, 1918 - November 16, 2001 John Allan Ramsay, passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Lovingly remembered by his wife Gisele; his three children, Joy (Gordon), Jacqueline (Rimas), John Douglas (Dianne) eight grand-children, Geoff (Shelly), Stephen (Christine), Lisa (Kevin), Andrew, Kristin, David, Eden and Jack; five great-grandchildren, Melissa, Samantha, Keaton, Sara and Riley. John is survived by his sister-in-law Mable, wife of his predeceased brother Roy (Bud). John served in the R.C.A.F. from 1941 - 1945. Upon his return, he joined with his brother Bud and his father Allan, founder in the family trucking business Royal Transportation. John was fourth generation of Ramsays in transportation and this business grew and prospered as well. Eventually, Ramsay Agency custom brokers were added in Winnipeg and Emerson. Later came Swan River the Pas transportation line. Royal and Swan River were later sold and within a year John left to pursue other interests. While remaining active in Ramsay Agency John actively pursued investment opportunities throughout his retirement years. Acquiring acreage to the south of Winnipeg enabled John to build a family home, to create beautiful gardens and plant abundant trees. John was often referred to as "Johnny Apple Seed". John Allan Ramsay, a good and generous man who took great pride in his family and who quietly gave to those in need will be laid to rest in a private family funeral at St. Marys Cathedral on Wednesday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. Our heartfelt thanks to Deer Lodge Centre, Chaplain Aubrey Hemminger, nurses and staff on T4 and 3 East. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 0L3.
