Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA MARY PUGH On December 9, 2001, at Victoria Hospital, Eva Mary Pugh, beloved wife of Stewart Pugh, born January 25, 1915, died. Eva Mary was born in Winnipeg, the daughter of Chief Justice John Evans Adamson, and his wife Mary Adamson, nee Turriff. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Clementina and Julia. She is survived by her husband Stewart; sister Joan Hunt of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Oakley Bidwell, Victoria, BC; and nieces, Catherine (Douglas) Johnson, Winnipeg; Alixe (John) Harbottle, Vancouver; Mary (Dalt) McCambley, Red Deer, AB; Barbara Bures, Victoria; nephews, Robert (Mary Patricia) Dickson, Edmonton/Winnipeg; John (Cindy) Reid, Sedona, AZ; John Dickson, England and Thomas (Denise) Dickson, Edmonton. Eva Mary graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1936 with a B.A. (Honours) and in 1957 with an LL.B. She also studied for a year at the Sorbonne. Owing to the period in which Eva Mary graduated with a law degree she was not able to obtain satisfactory work in the legal profession because of her gender. She held a number of supervisory positions in the city including working for the Federal Government, Great West Life Assurance Co., and latterly with the personnel department of the General Hospital of Winnipeg, now the Health Sciences Centre. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff of Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion given to Eva Mary. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Wednesday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend R.L. Brownlie officiating.
