DANIEL JOSEPH PRONYK March 2, 1975 - December 17, 2001 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Daniel Pronyk, aged 26 years, in Bangkok, Thailand. Dan was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. He was educated both at Margaret Park and Edmund Partridge Schools in West Kildonan, before going on to attend St. Pauls High School. From an early age, Dan displayed a courageous intensity and sure-footedness that enveloped every aspect of his life. Early and obvious passions were for sport, where he excelled both at hockey and football, receiving numerous awards and honours - including the Harry Hood award in 1991 and the Manitoba Youth Athlete of the Year in 1992. He went on to McGill University where he excelled academically and athletically - receiving his BA in economics and playing football for the Redmen. This was followed by two years in the CFL and two Grey Cup berths with the Hamilton TigerCats. With his football career cut short by an injury, Dan immersed himself in the business world with the international consulting firm KPMG. His work had him successfully based in no fewer than six North American cities over the past two years. His recent arrival in Bangkok was to be his first overseas posting. Dan will be remembered most for his easygoing charm, his mischievous sense of humour, and his ability to advance confidently in the direction of his dreams. "Carpe diem" seemed his motto, as he was fearless of change and new exploration, guided by curiosity and propelled forward by a deep strength of character. He touched those around him with his generosity, the ease of his laughter, and dedication of his friendship. Dan will be greatly missed by many. He leaves behind his father Gerald and mother Lydia; brothers, Paul (Julia) and Jason (fiancee Laura) special friend Tina; and a rich network of extended family and friends. Prayers will be held on Sunday, December 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Daniels memory to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation at 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 9Z9.
