LORNE MUNROE THOMAS Mr. Lorne Munroe Thomas, aged 68 years, a resident of 432 Barnard St., passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer, in St. Josephs Hospice on Monday, December 17, 2001 with his family at his side. Born in Balsam Bay, MB, he moved to Upsala in 1968. A heavy equipment mechanic by trade, Lorne was employed by various pipeline companies in his younger years, and he also operated his own welding business. He was an ardent fisherman, raced late model stock cars at Riverview Raceways, and enjoyed travelling across Canada. Lorne is survived by his three sons, Donny (Tammi), Reuben (Vanessa), Darren (Lynda), all of Thunder Bay; daughter Margaret (Ken) of Edson, AB; 12 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two brothers, Earl (Vera) of Beaconia, MB, Ted (Irene) of Jackfish Lake, MB; four sisters, Wilma (Jim) Gunn of Jackfish Lake, Anne (Bob) Whalen of Innisfree, AB, Mable Danwich of Balsam Bay, MB and Monda Thomas of Steinbach. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Beatrice Thomas and wife Myrna in 1996. According to Lornes wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lornes memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland St. "Lorne will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and many friends."
