SHEILA MARIE THOMAS (nee COWLEY) August 21, 1962 - February 22, 2002 Suddenly on Friday, February 22, 2002 Sheila Marie Thomas, passed away at the General Hospital. Sheila and Howard were married 10 years ago today. Sheila was born in Sydney, NS and moved to Selkirk in 1981. She attended Red River Community College, she was most recently employed by Community Living & Child & Family Services. Sheilas love for children led her to provide a loving home to many foster children throughout her life. Sheila touched the heart and lives of many families in Selkirk nurturing their children as if they were her own. She will be fondly remembered by all that knew her. Her caring, love and compassion for others will long be remembered. She will be sadly and lovingly missed by her husband Howard and their two daughters, Jackie (10) and Angel (9). Sheila also leaves brothers, Robert (Beverly) of Halifax, NS and Fred (Karen) of Calgary, AB; and sister Ann of Beausejour, MB. Also left to cherish Sheilas memory are nephews, Jeffery, Adam, Jonathon and Jack; and niece Ainsley. Sheila was predeceased by her mother Bridget in 1972 and father Captain Cowley in 1990. Sincere thanks to the ambulance drivers and doctors and staff at the Selkirk District Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Speer. Thank you to everyone who was there for us. In lieu of flowers Sheilas wish would be to speak gently to your children. If you wish to make a charitable donation, A.R.C. Industries was near and dear to her heart. A celebration of Sheilas life will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating.
