ADELINE JOSEPHINE THOMSON (nee Kaiser) Adeline Josephine Thomson passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the Riverview Health Centre, after a lengthy battle with cancer, with her husband at her side. Besides her husband, Adeline is survived by sisters, Mollie Niven of Brandon, Bernice Darling of Trenton, ON, Frances Wilson of Sechelt, BC and Anne (Harold) Heatherington of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her pet, the Westie Highlander, Fergie, the love of her life; by her parents Mary and John Kaiser; brothers, Henry, Peter, Jack, Laude, William and Theadore and sisters, Louise, Mary, Thelma, Iva and Erica. Adeline was born in Dufrost and received her schooling at Starbuck. Moving to Winnipeg, she started work with Eatons where she met her husband James, while playing baseball. Adeline worked for Eatons for about 30 years as a supervisor in the Mail Order Catalogue Returns Dept. until it closed in 1977. The next eight years were spent doing volunteer work at the Concordia Hospital. When the Eaton Retiree Club was formed in 1988, Adeline became Chairman of the Sick Visiting committee. Adeline became heavily involved in the club activities such as bowling, lawn bowling, golf, curling and was always on the bus trips to many of the casinos. She enjoyed her overseas trip to the British Isles as well as a trip to Washington. Many special thanks to Margaret and Alice for all of their help at many difficult times. Thanks is also expressed to Dr. Harris and nurses, Magerite and Carol, and all of the staff at the Concordia Oncology Dept., and to nurse Marlene and all the Social Workers who provided the home care. Thank you to Dr. Kirk and Dr. Garcia and all the staff of 3 East at the Riverview Palliative Care Ward, you all deserve a gold medal because you are all winners. There will be a Service of Remembrance at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. A reception will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Elmwood Branch at 920 Nairn Avenue. Flowers are gratefully declined, however memorial donations may be made to the Concordia Oncology Department and the Riverview Palliative Care Ward, 3 East. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
