Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON ROBERT BEATTIE Peacefully, after a brief battle with leukemia, Gordon passed away at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit March 5, 2002. Predeceased by his beloved wife Doreene, he is survived by his daughter Trish Gibson, daughter Linda and son-in-law Louis Laberge and his dear son Bob. Also left to remember and love him are grandchildren, Ian and Jennifer Gibson, Jill Gibson, Marc and Denine Laberge, Debbie and Greg Slywchuk, and Michael Laberge and friend Christie Bailley; and much loved great-grandchildren, Liam and Jessica Laberge and Lindsay and Noah Slywchuk. Born in Moose Jaw, SK on June 15, 1919, he served in the Canadian Army in the Second World War. Following that, he was employed with CP Rail for 43 years, both in Moose Jaw and in Winnipeg. He was a life member of the Moose Jaw Masonic Lodge No. 3. Dad enjoyed a long healthy life before being diagnosed last fall. His twice weekly bowling leagues brought him much enjoyment and a special group of friends. An avid hockey fan, Gordon held season tickets from the Winnipeg Jets initial season up to todays Moose and attended regularly. There was a special bond between Gordon and his only son Bob. For many years he was a scorekeeper and coach for Bobs Special Olympics bowling team. Gordon was a quiet and unassuming man who supported his family in all their endeavours. Our weekend dinners and dice games will be missing something special. The boys will miss their anchor man in our trivial pursuit challenges. Many thanks to the staff in Emergency and the Palliative Care ward of St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gordons life will take place on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Flowers are gratefully declined. Anyone wishing to, may make a donation to Versatech Charitable Foundation Inc., 436 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 0J4.
