JOANA (JENNIE) HNATIUK (nee OSTOPOWICH) It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Joana Hnatiuk on May 27, 2002, at her home. Joana leaves to mourn her passing, her brother Michael, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her beloved husband Elmer in 1989. Joana was born May 5, 1928, and grew up in the North End of Winnipeg. She worked at Great West Life for many years with her best friend June Stairs and they had many wonderful adventures together. She retired after her marriage to Elmer in 1961 and made a beautiful home together. Joana was a collector of many things: dolls, miniatures, teddy bears and crafted exquisite needlepoint pictures. She loved a good crossword puzzle, flowers, her favourite mystery novel writers and classic movies. Most of all she loved having family dinners and birthday parties. Her sunshine will be sorely missed. Special thanks to Lil, Phil, Elaine, Randy and Giselle for all of their help. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private interment will take place.
