Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHEODORE CAMILLE POITRAS Theodore Camille Poitras, beloved husband of Madeleine (Painchaud), passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87 years. He leaves behind his sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Eddy) Albert, Yvonne (Philippe) Piche, Claire (Joseph) Andre, Therese (Gerry) Beaulieu, Cecile (Bill) Richter, Simone (Joe) Lavoie, Paul (Lucy) Poitras and Jerry (Hilda) Poitras; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Lucien, Philippe, Andre and his baby sister. A jack-of-all-trades and master of many, Theodore worked as a painter and carpenter by profession. His holidays were spent hauling grain during harvest time for his brother-in-law Gabriel and his nephew Constant. Ever the avid gardener, he always kept an eye on his crops, especially his tomatoes. Over the years, through World Vision, he and Madeleine have educated and cared for seven foster children. He spent his later years being helpful as usual and caring to all, visiting sick family and friends in the hospital. He started prayer groups for the ill. Ever wanting to be of service, he shovelled snow, mowed lawns for family and friends. When he and Madeleine moved to their Goulet apartment, he made sure the grounds and walkways were also always free of snow, litter and weeds. At the Prendergast Club and Saturday Bingo, he always busied himself helping out wherever he could. He will be deeply missed by all of us. He is much loved and has a special place in our hearts. A special thank you to Rachelle and Leo Roy for their kindness, continued support, and valued friendship. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. at P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St., Winnipeg. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. with cremation to follow. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fannystelle Church, Fannystelle, MB. Interment to follow in the Fannystelle Cemetery. The family would like to consider all who attend the prayers and the funeral mass as honorary pallbearers.
