THOMAS JAMES RANNI Peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2002 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Thomas James (Tom) Ranni passed away at the age of 53 years. Tom will be sadly and lovingly missed by his wife Sally, son David, and many family and friends. He is also survived by brothers, Julius (Marie), Ron (Lil), Dan (Nora), Ernie (Audrey), and Mike; sisters, Mary (Tootsie) McEachern, Concetta Carolina Gelinas, Angelica Cecilia (Murdock) Cormier, Margaret Rose (Dave) McDonald, Gloria (Moe) Chenier, and Donna Maria (David) Duodreau; as well as brothers-in-law, Gordon March, Manny Mamo; and sisters-in-law, Carmelle Ranni and Isabel Ranni. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Julius Peter and Mary Margaret; brothers, Nicholas Vincent, Joseph Elmer (Sonny) sisters, Delores Loran Pina March, Veronica Victoria Mamo. Tom was born in Sydney, Cape Breton, NS on May 9, 1949 and started his career as a cadet, joining the Black Watch in his teens, and took his training for the Light Infantry in Gagetown, NB from 1967-69, and from 1969-71 was stationed in Germany. He was posted to 2PPCLI Infantry, CFB Winnipeg from 1971-77. It was during this time that he did a tour with the UN in Cypress in 1971, that he met Sally, and after the UN Tour they were married on May 5, 1973. In 1977, Tom remustered to Logistic Supply Tech. Tom served a total of 30 years with Canadian Forces, retiring in 1995. Tom and Sally loved the posting and enjoyed making "home" at each end of the country. In 1997, Tom, Sally and David moved back to Steinbach, where Tom was employed by Loewen Windows until February 2000. Tom loved to talk to anyone and a smile greeted everyone. He was a loving husband and dad, and enjoyed family get-togethers. "We will miss you till we meet again" Prayers will be said on Monday, June 17, 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel, #12 Hwy. S., Steinbach, followed by Mass of the Ressurection on Tuesday, June 18, 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Saviour Roman Catholic Church, 365 Loewen Blvd. in Steinbach, with interment to follow in the Heritage cemetery. Friends are invited to a lunch at the church following the service. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel, Steinbach. (204)326-1351.
