Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNICE (BOBBY) RAYTER 1918 - 2002 On June 30, 2002, at Seven Oaks Hospital, aged 83 years, beloved mother and grandmother. Predeceased by her husband Tubby Rayter; parents, Molly and Jack Pearlman; and daughter-in-law Dale Rayter. Her legacy will be carried on by her children, Barry (Maggie), Sharon (Benson) Labinsky, Bailey (Karen), Mark (Ron) and Ian; grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Scott, Lindsay, Mika, Jared and Aaron Rayter, Jordan (Shari), Brent (Tammy) and Ellen (Simon Fleischer) Labinsky; and seven great-grandchildren; sister Delkie (Lou) Greenberg; brother Lorne (Marge) Pearlman; and her many nieces and nephews. A devoted wife and mother, her family was her greatest pride and joy. Always interested in everyones accomplishments, she maintained daily contact with all of us until her passing. She taught us by showing us how and then letting us try. With her quiet strength she was the centre of our family and we revolved around her as one cohesive unit. She received her greatest pleasure when she saw her family together. Even on the few occasions when she could no longer attend some family functions, she took comfort in knowing we were together. She loved music, and our home was always filled with the sounds of opera, Broadway and popular song. Our house was open to everyone, and filled with love, laughter and, of course, good food. Between Bobbys cooking and her and Tubbys multitude of friends, our summertime cottage at Winnipeg Beach was a revolving restaurant. She was caring and unselfish, with many lifelong friendships still intact. She gave us all equal attention, fostering a level of commitment in her children for one another, and that is what has carried us through the difficult times. It would put a smile on her face, so constant and characteristic throughout her life, to see us all together celebrating the good times. She can finally tell Tubby they did a good job. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful care provided by Norma, Gina, Lisa, Lee, Mercedes, Mhele, Bobby and the other numerous women who were with her in her home on a daily basis through these last years. Services were at Rosh Pina Synagogue on July 2. Pallbearers were her children, Barry, Sharon, Bailey, Mark, Ian, son-in-law Benson Labinsky and grandchildren, Jordan and Brent Labinsky. Donations may be made to the Dale Rayter Nursing Education Trust Fund at HSC Finance Department (787-1911), or to a charity of your choice.
