BERTHA MAKOWE (nee GRIEGER) Peacefully, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer and Parkinsons disease, the family wishes to announce with great sorrow and grief the death of Bertha Makowe on August 30, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital. She will be remembered with love by her husband Herbert of 47 years; brother Otto (Waltraud) sister Frieda (Alfred) and in Germany brothers, Oskar (Erna), Konrad and sister Anna. Bertha was predeceased by her parents Michael and Emilie Grieger and sister Hedwig. She also leaves to remember her with love her nephews and nieces, Michael (Roxanne), Robert, Peter, Susanne (Peter), Gisela (Don) and Theresa (Dan). Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. with Rev. Heimo Bachmeyer officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Viewing on Wednesday 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Michael, Robert and Peter Grieger, Peter Sanders, Gerhard Bisewski and Peter Hillius. Special thanks and appreciation is extended to the doctors and nurses for their compassionate care to Bertha during her illness. Also, to Cheryl from Home Care whose visits Bertha cherished.
