STEWART NELSON REID It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stewart, aged 50 years, on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. His life and memories will be forever preserved in the hearts and minds of his wife Donna Reid (nee Simmons) sons, Ryan and Michael and daughter Lana. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Edith Farden; sisters, DeeDee, Tina and their families; brothers, Brad and Shawn, along with many relatives, coworkers and friends. A special place will forever be held in the hearts of the Simmons family. Pastor Marvin Simmons and wife Norma loved him as a son and he will be missed greatly. Stewart was a quiet, kind and thoughtful man with a quirky sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met. His years spent as a journeyman carpenter allowed many to benefit from the skillful workmanship he took such pride in. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. L. Tan, Dr. J. Mayba, Dr. A. Leylek and Dr. C. Mihalcioiu, as well as the staff of D3 at HSC for the compassion and care they showed Stewart, and for keeping him comfortable to the end. We would also like to thank numerous friends for their tremendous support. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 4, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m., also at Cropo Chapel, with interment following at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an Educational Trust Fund for his son Ryan Reid (please send donations to Mrs. N. Simmons, Trustee, 948 Centennial Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3N 1R7).
