EILEEN MARY PORTEOUS (nee SHAKESPEARE) Peacefully, with her family around her, Eileen Porteous passed away on September 7, 2002, at the age of 86. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Agnes (Nee Harris) Shakespeare; and her brothers, Charles (Chuck), Fred and Erle. Eileen was born on January 2, 1916, in St. James, MB, where she lived all of her life amongst family and friends. She worked at Eatons for over 30 years, starting in 1949. Eileen loved the lake and, with her husband Gerry, bought a cottage at Grand Beach in 1961 where she spent every summer, delighting in playing cards and enjoying her family. Eileen loved music, reading, playing bridge with friends, sewing and travelling the world. She never missed a family event or party and gave so much of herself to everyone around her. The family would like to thank the nurses of the Grace Hospital, Donna, Jayne, Val, Debbie, Katherine, Linda, Gianna, Lynn, and others as well as Aid Trevor for their empathy and care. And thank you to Dr. Harris and Dr. Mould. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileens memory may be made to Breast Cancer Centre of Hope, 691 Wolseley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 1C3. • I enjoyed a wonderfully stable and calm neighbourhood growing up thanks to people like Eileen who contributed that and more. Our neighbourhood gave us a secure feeling, and her children reflected her values around us younger kids. She and what she stood for will be missed. - Posted by: Robert Way (former neighbour) on: Nov 03, 2013
