After My Class Clown Self Was In Trouble For Being Absolutely Hilarious Yet Again; The New Grade 7 Seating Arrangement Had Me Sitting Next To This Quiet Boy With Dark & Perfect Bangs. Our Teacher Hated Me So He Figured Placing Me Next To This One Would Be Pure Classroom Serenity.. Mr. Moolchan Couldn’t Have Been More Wrong! Garry & I Would Laugh So Much; Especially When I Asked Him What A ‘BMW’ Was. I Know Nothing About Cars, Still Don’t & To This Day Don’t Drive. After About A Month Garry Invited Me To Join Him With His Grade 8 Friends At Lunchtime. He Spoke About His Best Friend; Marcel Massey, Constantly. Finally I Got To Meet Them. Detention Permitting At Lunch It’s The Tall Sandy Haired Grade 8 Boy Marcel -A Young Andrew Dice Clay, Alongside Car Expert; Sam Smith, Garry B & Me… We Would All Meet At The Back Exit Of The School For Comedy Lunch Hour. It Was The Best Of Grade 7 & Some Of Grade 8 For Real. I Moved Around A Lot In My Childhood. Tried My Best To Remain In Touch. Circumstance Took Us Down Different Paths. When I Heard About Garry, My Grandmother Told Me. I Was In Winnipeg & Tried My Best To Attend His Home-going Ceremony. It Saddens Me To This Day, I Was Unable To Travel To Selkirk. It Was Heartbreaking To Think About His Parents & Marcel, How They Beared Such A Tremendous Loss. He Would Be 47 Right Now. What Brought Me Here Were Some Old Photos Of Selkirk’s Humble Beginnings & Was Talking to My Younger Loved Ones About Him The Other Day & The ‘Lunch Doors’ That Belonged To Us, Them Actually. They Were The First To Start That Routine. It Was A Short Time & A Time I Was Allowed To Be A Kid. I’m Incredibly Honoured To Have Shared These Experiences With Such Great People. God Rest This Man’s Forever Young Soul. Praying Everyone Is Safe & Doing Well. I Know We Lost A Few People Listed May God Bless Their Souls & Loved Ones Upon Remembrance. Love & Miss Everyone. Unforgettable Selkirk Junior High Moments. - Posted by: Selkirk Junior High (Classmate) on: Jan 13, 2026

I have a hard time thinking it's been over 15 years since Garry's passing and I think of him often. I would give anything to call him up for a beer and a bbq. If his family is checking, please know he's not forgotten and never will be. - Posted by: Jeff Oshoway (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2017

Not a day goes by when I don't think about how our kids should be playing together and we should be having beers around my pool singing Don McLean... you'll never be forgotten - Posted by: Jeff Oshoway (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2015
