Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARRY POTTS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Potts, beloved husband, father and grandfather, at his home on Monday, September 16, 2002. Barry leaves to mourn his wife Margaret; daughter Donna Bassett; son Bradley Bassett; granddaughter Keely; mother Ivy Horsfield; and brothers, John, Fred and David in England; cousins, nieces, nephews both here and abroad. Barry was born August 6, 1940 in Worksop, England. He came to Canada in 1959. He worked for Sears and Uniroyal, where he met his wife Margaret and they married in 1971. He was currently employed with the Winnipeg School Division at Cecil Rhodes. Barry loved both his work and the children at school. Barry enjoyed his fellowship with the Masons at Cornerstone Lodge No. 179, especially his role as auctioneer at the racetrack fundraisers. He also loved playing Santa Claus each year for the students. He was an armchair sports fan and an avid reader, but he was most happy when spending time with Margaret and knowing that she was well cared for. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. In addition Barrys Masonic Lodge Cornerstone #179 will provide a Masonic service; regalia should be worn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cecil Rhodes Childrens Heritage Fund, 1570 Elgin West R3E 1C2. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241

The years have passed and still I recall my favourite Grandpa with so much fondness.... "Who loves ya?" he would always ask me over the phone, half a country away, and always I would respond, " You do!" Our ritual ended invariable with "you betcha." I miss you. I love you. Thank you. - Posted by: Keely (Grandaughter) on: Mar 05, 2018
