SYLVIA THORSTEINSON (nee HARASYM) 63 years and nine months from the day she blessed this world with her presence, Sylvia Elizabeth peacefully left us on October 20, 2002. The cancer may have taken the person we love but it could not take the love from the person. Sylvia leaves her daughter Beth (Grant) Balsillie and grandchildren, Krista (great-grandson Hunter), Kyle and Candice; her son Stefan (Audrey) Thorsteinson and grandchildren, Thor, Robert and Ashley, all to carry on for her. She also leaves her nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Ken, Ted, Kathy, Jean, Beth and Mike; her sister-in-law and friend, Barb Johnson; her nephews, Jay, Barry, Donny and Stacey; her aunts, Nellie and Jesse, and cousins in Ontario as well as a vast network of friends and acquaintances who had the good fortune to share a piece of her life. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Wasyl (William/Bill) and Ana (Anne/Annie) and by her brothers, Myroslav (Russel) and Orest (Ody) Harasyn. Though we mourn the passing of the person, we celebrate the life of the woman who touched so many lives during her short stay. From the twinkle in a childs eye to the smile on someones face who remembers sharing something special, Sylvia (Mom/Amma) lives on in our hearts and our memories. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. in St. Boniface on Friday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the church and a reception will follow. Private interment will take place in Glen Eden Cemetery the following day.
