Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE EARNEST POVEY With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather, Leslie Povey who passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Dad was born on April 4, 1917 and spent his childhood in the Brooklands and Weston area of Winnipeg. As a young man, he worked briefly at the CPR and then at Eatons before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy at the beginning of the Second World War to run convoy across the North Atlantic. Upon wars end, he rejoined Eatons and served as a butcher in the basement meat department until joining Redekopps grocery store on Henderson in 1972, retiring in 1981. He married Patricia Sturk in 1948 and together they raised three sons. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia; sons, Ronald (Evelyn), Gregory (Rosemarie) and Nolan; grandchildren, Jana Leigh, Daralyn, Mathew, Danielle and Lesley-Anne; older brother Albert; younger sister Edna, as well as many dear nieces and nephew. The family would especially like to thank the intensive care staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital and a dear neighbour Doreen Brown for their compassion and care during Dads last moments. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. with viewing one-half hour prior to the service.
