DOROTHY EMELIA PURDIE Peacefully with her family by her side, Dorothy Emelia Purdie, left to join her beloved husband Bob on Sunday, October 27, 2002. Born on September 28, 1918 to Albert and Amelia Hargreaves, Dorothy was the second eldest of a family of eight. Dorothy married Robert Purdie on September 27, 1941, just before Bob was sent overseas. Once the war was over, they purchased a home in St. Vital and began their life together. Dot and Bob later purchased a cottage at Red Rock Lake where they enjoyed many summers with family and friends. Dorothy was employed for many years with Pioneer Grain and retired to care for Bob. She demonstrated amazing strength of character and loyalty in the way she cared so lovingly for Bob over the years as his health failed. In retirement, Dorothys greatest passion was her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her great-nephews and niece, and shared her tales of their exploits with everyone she knew. Dorothy was a person who truly loved to experience life and found pleasure in everything she encountered. She was always willing to explore new things and was dedicated to living life to the fullest. Dorothy was a truly generous person, she was always ready to give of her time, talents, and possessions to friends or charities. Dorothy is survived by her three brothers, Albert (Lorraine), Hugh, and Leslie (Edith) Hargreaves; and one sister Marge (Bernie) Praznik. Also left to remember Auntie Dorothy are numerous nieces and nephews. Robert and Linda would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Sharon Home who cared for Dorothy over the last several months, especially Louise. A celebration of Dorothys life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Arthritis Foundation. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
