Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOPHER DOUGLAS BEAULIEU On Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, surrounded by his loving family, Christopher Douglas Beaulieu of rural Portage, beloved husband of Dina Beaulieu passed away at the age of 70 years. A traditional wake was held at the Amaranth Hall Wednesday evening starting at 4:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, October 31 at 4:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Friday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Norman Collier officiating. The service will terminate at the chapel with cremation to follow. Interment will take place in the Westbourne Cemetery at a later date. Chris was born on July 23, 1932 at Sandy Bay, MB, son of Noah and the late Veronique Beaulieu where he was raised and received his education. On August 18, 1956 he married Dina Folmer and together they raised their six children. Chris worked as an ice fisherman, farmer, mechanic, and was vice president of the Manitoba Indian Brotherhood, then was self employed at Amaranth. Since 1987, until present he was an advisor with the Dakota Plains First Nation. He was a board member on the Central Regional Health Authority and was instrumental in the Portage General Hospital renovations and getting more machines in the dialysis unit. He also worked on getting the new ambulance service in Sandy Bay. He was an active member with the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council. He will be lovingly remembered by his family as a gentle and dedicated man, and a strong advocate for his people. Predeceased by his mother Veronique; one brother Isaac; brothers-in-law, Russel Starr and Leon Fontaine, he leaves to mourn his passing his father Noah Beaulieu; his wife Dina; his children, Richard (Diana), Tammy, Kelly, Keith (Judy), Tony, Lamberdina; six grandchildren, Erin, Sean, Tyler, Sara, Chad and Curtis. Also surviving are five sisters, Suzanne Starr, Adeliene (Magnus) Mousseau, Irene Fontaine, Mary (Dave) Ireland, Hazel (Bill) McKinnett; and sisters-in-law, Rose (Roy) Anderson and Eileen. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Portage General Hospital Dialysis Unit. The Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie in care of the arrangements.
