KATHERINE (KAY) NIDER (nee SLOBODIAN) Peacefully, after a brief illness, Kay Nider passed away on Friday, November 8, 2002 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 78. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Sr.; parents, Maxim and Anna; sister Annette; and brother Alex. Left to cherish Moms memory are her children, Walter and Keleigh Nider; brother Orest (Olga) Slobodian; sister-in-law Jean Slobodian; nieces and nephews, Paula (Brad) Havixbeck, Karen (Terry) Imhoff, Wendy Weszner, Christine (Joe) McNulty, Sharon Zelinski, Ken Lazar and their families. Mom was born in Winnipeg on October 2, 1924. After her public school education, she attended Angus Business College. Following graduation, she worked for the City of Winnipeg in the Assessment Department for 21 years. She was married to Walter Sr. in 1950 and they became proud parents in 1965. Moms strong faith and devotion to prayer helped her through the many difficult times of her life. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Apostleship of Prayer. Warm, generous, and caring, Mom will be lovingly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital for their kindness and care. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Mom had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, 501-840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1. It broke our hearts to lose you Mom But you did not go alone, For a part of us went with you The day God called you Home. We love you Mom and you will always be in our hearts.
