FULTON ALEXANDER McBEATH SPEIRS Fulton Alexander McBeath Speirs, 73, passed away peacefully November 12, 2002 at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Fultons last days were full of pain, but he was surrounded by his loving family, the sound of laughter and an abiding sense of peace in his final moments. Fulton is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 50 years, Evelyn; his daughter Sharon; sons, Brad and Doug and daughters-in-law, Diane and Lana. His memory is also cherished by his loving aunt and uncle, Ann and Daniel Leong, as well as a multitude of loving relatives and friends. Born in Vancouver in 1929, Fulton was a gentleman of the old school. He lived a life of honesty, integrity, generosity and compassion for others. His word was his bond. Fulton took enormous pride in his work, spending 47 years as a salesman and manager with Grinnell. But his greatest passion was his family, and his greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren, Logan (21 months), Abby (four), Kayleigh (13) and Liam (16). Mom and Dad spent 26 wonderful, although extremely cold, years in Winnipeg, where Fulton became a second father to a legion of his childrens closest friends. When his children were playing, Fulton never missed a game of the River Heights Cardinals, the Fort Garry Lions and the Knads touch football team. His loves including reading, a good argument, grilling steaks for anyone who walked in his door and sneaking food to a host of pet dogs that flocked to his chair under the dining room table. In his final years, Fulton lived his dream of retiring by the ocean in the beautiful town of Sidney By The Sea. Fultons family would like to thank the staff of the Saanich Hospitals palliative care unit for their tender care. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Fultons life on Wednesday, November 20 at the Fish House restaurant in Vancouver, 8901 Stanley Park Dr., between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
