ELIZABETH PURCELL (REIMER) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Elizabeth, on November 16, 2002 at the age of 95 years, 10 months, 16 days. Mother was a resident of Donwood Personal Care Home at the time of her demise. Left to mourn and cherish her memory are her sons, Jim (Ronnie), Kenneth (Susan) daughters, Mary and Kathleen; her grandchildren, Paul, Sara, Shawn (Jackie), Lisa, Mandy (Rob), Sean (Fatima) great-grandchildren, Crystal, Oliver, Jordan, and the most recent family member, another Jordan in 1999. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband John; son Jack; parents, Peter B. and Gotliebe Reimer; brothers, Henry, Peter, Nickolas, Abe; their spouses; a sister at birth; son-in-law John; and grandson Mark. Born in the Sandilands - Steinbach area on February 10, 1907, she spent her childhood on the farm. Mother came to Winnipeg in her teens where she met and married her husband John while employed by The Hudson Bay Company as a cake and pastry baker. Elizabeth was in the restaurant business for many years in Winnipeg and Toronto. In retirement her hands were never idle spending many happy hours with her fancy work making beautiful quilts, bedspreads, tablecloths and hooking rugs. All her children and grand-children were recipients of these exceptional works of art. Mother was an excellent cook and enjoyed many family get-togethers with her children and their families. She was a loving and caring person who sacrificed much to provide for her five children after the death of her husband John in 1949. Our mother will be missed by all who came in contact with her and remembered for her gentle unassuming nature. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A memorial and interment will follow at a later date. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Donwood Personal Care Home for their love and compassion in the care of our mother. The professionalism of the nurses and health care aids of 2 North made Mothers last days a little easier to bear. A special thanks to Dr. J.I. Regehr. We love you Mother for your quiet grace For that dear smile upon your kindly face For the marks of toil upon each loving hand That worked for us ere we could understand. If so desired, donations can be made to Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Dr., R2G 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
