MARION ELIZABETH PYE The family of Marion Elizabeth Pye announces her passing November 11, 2002 at the Deloraine Memorial Hospital in her 91st year. She was loved and will be missed. Marion was born in Carievale, SK to Charles and Margaret Todd. Surviving is her sister Grace of Deloraine, MB and many nieces and nephews. Marion attended Waterloo and Goodlands schools, then went on to pursue her teaching certificate from Normal School in Winnipeg. It was here she met and married her husband Stanley who predeceased her in 1985. Both Stan and Marion taught in several school throughout Manitoba. Marion taught for several years at Brandon Collegiate in Brandon with her final teaching year in Shilo, MB. The students she taught were her interest throughout her life. In 1963, at 51 years of age, Marion attained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, attending classes in the evenings all the while working full time at Brandon Collegiate Institute. A year later, a Bachelor of Education was achieved. Most of her years she resided in Brandon, where she enjoyed and cared for her home and her beloved cats. She loved her flowers and yard. Marion was a faithful member of Central United Church for many years, belonged to the Manitoba Teachers Society and spent countless hours volunteering at the Canadian Cancer Society. She had a wonderful generous spirit and gave abundantly always to her family, neighbours, students and friends. She loved her students and taught both French and Math passionately. She took great strides to assist her students to use the unique gifts she recognized they had. Her family wishes to thank Scott and Ada Meggison for the countless ways that they assisted her and helped her to maintain her dignity prior to her move to Brendelwin Lodge in Deloraine in October of 2001. They also thank the caring staff of both the Deloraine Memorial Hospital and Brendelwin Lodge. A memorial service was held at Central United Church in Brandon on November 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Stevenson officiating. Burial of remains was at Goodlands Cemetery. If so desired, in Marions memory, donations may be given to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • She was undoubdetdly the best teacher in my entire school career. Her passion for her teaching awed all of us, her students. I still remember the day the BCI principal, Don Cullen, introduced her in the morning assembly to say a few words to the graduating class. Her students, in all grades, broke out into sustained applause and brought her to tears. We loved you very much, Mrs.Pye. You touched us all deeply. - Posted by: Richard Patterson (student at BCI) on: Jul 28, 2012
