Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELLEN PRUDEN (nee CLARK) It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Pruden surrounded by her family at Concordia Hospital. Mom went home to Gods garden at the age of 74 years on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Charles; daughters, Sharon, Diane (Peter), April (Terry) "Pidge"; grand-children, Jason (Leslie), Adam (Jocelyn), Angie (Brent), Matthew, Andrew, Amy, Tiffany and TJ; brother Chester; and sister Doreen. Her parents, William and Amy; and one brother George Clark predeceased her. Mom was born in Winnipeg and raised in Stoney Point, MB. She attended school in both Stoney Point and Selkirk. Mom and Dad met through Moms good friend and Dads sister Nina. They were married in St. Phillips Church, Scanterbury, on September 4, 1948. Mom was fortunate to be able to pursue her dream of furthering her education by enrolling into the Licensed Practical Nursing course at MIT (Red River College) at the age of 35 years. Following her graduation, she was employed at Concordia Hospital until 1973, where upon she enrolled in the Graduate Nursing Program at Misericordia Hospital and received her RN in June 1974. Mom was employed at Concordia Hospital for 20 years and retired in 1988 from the NFA unit. Moms door was always open for family to stay in times of need or to gather in celebration. Above all, her family came first and her greatest pleasures came from giving to her family. She took pride in her nursing accomplishments; she enjoyed the lake, gardening and her many crafts. The family wishes to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital for all the care and compassion given to Mom and for all the support given to the family. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Marys life on Tuesday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Andrews on the Red Anglican Church, with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Marys grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marys memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 - 200 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. As I sail away Dont weep for me, Just wish me a pleasant journey And wave goodbye; Loved ones are waiting With out-stretched arms On the other side Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
