JOSEPH CHIPNEY 1919 - 2002 At Health Sciences Centre on Monday, December 16, 2002, Joseph Chipney passed away after a battle with cancer. Always Joe to his friends, his early years were spent in Winnipeg. During the Second World War Joe served with the Canadian Army, seeing action in Italy, the Low Countries and Germany. There were a variety of jobs after the war. For a time he worked with the railroad out of Toronto. Settling back in Winnipeg, Joe worked first as a truck driver and then drove a cab for Duffys Taxi until his retirement. After leaving the workforce, Joe was able to indulge his enthusiasm for televised sports. Those who knew him will remember especially his keen interest in hockey. Westerns, action movies and war films were also great sources of entertainment. Until health difficulties intervened, Joe was also an avid bowler, winning several trophies in seniors competition. His outgoing, friendly personality will be missed by all his friends. Joe was predeceased by wife Mary in 1986. He leaves behind a son Brian. Deep appreciation is extended to the staff at Health Sciences Centre, both on GH4 and especially to those up on the 4th floor at the Rehab. They went beyond mere professionalism in making the situation as comfortable as it could possibly be for all concerned. Cremation has already taken place. There will be no memorial service. Rather than sending flowers, it is asked that you please consider making a donation to a childrens charity of your choice. Cremation arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
