EDWARD RATTAI February 15, 1911 - December 31, 2002 Sadly on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 Edward Rattai passed away peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital, Beausejour, MB at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lenora, of 70 years; his children, Alice (Richard), Myrtle (Fred), Sandra (Glen), Ron (Pat), as well as 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, as well as a brother Adolph (Helen) and a sister Hilda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends. He was predeceased by a son Raymond; grandson Gregory and his parents Gustav and Leocadia. Edward was born, lived and farmed in the Green Bay area for 80 years. Upon his retirement in 1990 he took up residence in Beausejour. Ed was a kind, caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His door was always open to everyone. His greatest joy was his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. The family would like to express "special thanks" to home care with their assisting Edward, as he was able to remain living independently in his home. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday, January 5, 2003 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. also from the Chapel with Pastor Mark Koenker officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. If friends so desire memorial donations in Edwards memory may be made to the Beausejour Health Centre, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0, or to a charity of ones choice.
