RICHARD ORLIN OBIE Rick Obie, aged 32 years, dearly beloved fiance of Shirley Cowan, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Garson, MB. Besides Shirley, Ricky is survived by his loving parents, Myrtle and Orlin Obie of East Selkirk; his four beautiful daughters, Jamie, Brianne, Alicia, and Desiree; his sisters, Shelly (Darrell) Saluk of Beausejour and Val (Stuart) Truthwaite of Selkirk; and his grandmother Linda Obie. He will be sadly missed by his nephews and nieces, Darrell, Tyler, Jaclyn and Jenna, Shirleys niece Cayla and nephew Brenden, and numerous relatives and friends. Rick was predeceased by his brother Howie; Grandpa and Gramma Schoenborn; Papa Obie; and most recently on September 26, 2002, his beloved Uncle Chuck who he loved to play guitar with. Rick was born in Selkirk on June 20, 1970. He lived in Garson for 23 years. Rick was blessed with four lovely daughters from his first marriage. Ricks girls meant the world to him, they missed each other very much over the last two years. He recently settled on a farm with his fiance Shirley. Rick was a jack of all trades, even at a young age. He liked the challenge of dismantling and reassembling practically everything. Rick had always enjoyed his mini bikes, trikes, quads, snowmobiles, and cars. Rick had always loved music, but became even more involved when he met Shirley. Shirley and Rick had learned to play the guitar together. Playing his guitar was something Rick really enjoyed. Rick was an outdoorsman. He loved all animals, working outside with his family and friends. Rick had worked at Lesters Cartage and Selkirk Redi Mix operating crushers or loaders. His most recent employment was Rays Mobile & Sandblasting where he took great pride in his work. Rick will be sadly missed by many friends. He was outgoing and fit in with any crowd. Rick had a huge heart; he was very trusting, loyal and would go out of his way to help anyone. Rick would always be there for you to lean on. Forever in my heart sugarpop Always missed, hugs and kisses, Shirley Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour, with Pastor Mark Koenker officiating. Interment will follow in the Town of Beausejour Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Skiba, Jamie Lavoie, Alvin Anderson, Bob Cowan, Jim Bartley and Ray Schirle.
