PHYLLIS GERTRUDE HOBSON With family by her side, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on January 14, 2003. Her love of life, family and a unique spirit enriched all who knew her. Phyllis retired from the City of Winnipeg Personnel Department in 1987 after working there for over 40 years. She enjoyed many seasons at her Matlock cottage, as well as her sons cottage in Minaki. Memories include, time spent at the beach, cribbage tournaments, late night poker games, bacci balls, bonfires, yard sales and many "happy hours". Gran also enjoyed golf (Pine Ridge, Crescent Drive), her numerous bridge clubs and curling at the Pembina Curling Club. Phyllis was also a devoted and compassionate volunteer with Cancermount for 11 years. Though illness curtailed many of these activities later in life, she never lost interest in politics and current affairs. Phyllis is survived by her son Brian Templeton (Marilyn) and three grandchildren, Trevor (Lisa), Kevin (Lisa-Kay) and Kimberly. As well, Gran was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Riley and Tucker who brought her much happiness during the last five years of her life. She will also be greatly missed by her sister Myrna McFetridge (Neil), goddaughter Lynn McLeod (Ken) and many nieces and nephews with whom great memories have been shared. Grans beloved four legged friend, Chelsea, will miss her frequent pats. Many thanks to Dr. Maxwell, Anne, Bonnie, Astrid, Penny, Jan and Laura of the Oncology Department at Victoria General Hospital, as well as the 3 East Ward staff at Riverview Hospital. A celebration of Phyllis life will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Cres., with Rev. Susan Van Dreser officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oncology Department, Victoria General Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., R3T 2Z9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
