ALEX LENKO Suddenly on Sunday, January 19, 2003, Alex Lenko, aged 74 years, beloved husband of Mary Lenko, passed away at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall. Alex was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, and brothers, Roy and Andy. Surviving to mourn his loss besides his loving wife Mary; son Ken (Elaine) and grandson Daniel of Edmonton, AB; sisters, Pearl (Pete) Billy of Creston, BC, Helen (Gordon) of Kamloops, BC, Vickie (Bert) of Cranbrook, BC; brothers, Victor (Karen) of Canyon, BC, Wally (Lena) of Creston, BC, Art of Bonis Farris, WA, Tom of Canyon, BC; brother-in-law Mike Zavoda of Winnipeg whom he loved dearly; loving family friends, Gord, Jane, Mark and Sonja Allan of Stonewall; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Alex was born February 3, 1928 in Alberta. He spent 25 years in the Air Force, then worked as a parts man for 19 years in Edmonton. In 1991 he retired and moved from Edmonton to Stonewall. A passion of his was books. My love I hope you remember our song "Wind Beneath My Wings". Hope you can keep that wind beneath my wings for a bit during this hard time. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Rev. Mary Best will officiate. The service will conclude at the chapel. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
