(KAY) CATHERINE MAY SMITH (nee BURR) Suddenly but peacefully on January 12, 2003, with Roy, her loving husband of 50 years, by her side in Mesa, AZ. Kay was born on May 6, 1931 in Oshawa, ON and married Roy on March 29, 1952. After moving several times, they settled in Winnipeg, MB in 1964. Kay was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She took an active interest in golf, curling and shuffleboarding, knitting, crossword puzzles, computer games and cards. Kay leaves to mourn her passing husband Roy; daughter Diane (Terry) Spakowski (Jennifer and Michelle) of Thunder Bay, ON; sons, David (Joy) Smith (Matthew and Andrea) of Regina, SK, Robert Smith and Larry Lepla of Portage la Prairie, MB; sister Jean (Bob) Coleman of Port Perry, ON; brother William (Donna) Burr of Chelsea, QC; brother-in-law Bruce (Judy) Smith of Richmond Hill, ON; many nieces and nephews; aunts, May Storie of Oshawa, ON and Pearl Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; uncle Ed (Betty) Storie of Port Perry, ON; special friends, Audrey Grant, Nina Suche and Shirley Jonassen of Winnipeg, MB; many friends and neighbours in Winnipeg and Mesa. Predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Marion Burr. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being held in Mesa, AZ on January 25. Final service and interment to follow in Winnipeg in the spring. (Announcement to follow). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society.
