Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN CAPAR Born February 13, 1922 in Winnipeg, MB, died peacefully in his home January 26, 2003 in Maple Ridge, BC. Norman was predeceased by his loving wife Lillian and leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Cathy, Patty (Dave) and Robert; his grandchildren, Ryan, Bradley, Nicole, Jason and Ashley. Dad/Grandpa was a true survivor, of childhood polio, as a proud RCAF member, nine months as a POW (and the infamous prisoner death march across Germany) during the Second World War, and a major heart attack in 1977. He never wavered in fostering in himself and others a great joy for life and an appreciation for every new day. With honour, and as a gentleman he met his challenges head on and his love for his family never faltered. Viewing, February 2, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel, 11765-224th Street, Maple Ridge. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Mawani for taking such good care of our father and grandpa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

While I never knew Norman, my Mother, Patricia Anderson and Father, Robert Anderson, knew Norman and Lilian well and spoke very highly of both. Norman and my Dad were in Stalag Luft III together, went on the forced march out of SL3 and ended up in Stalag III A Luckenwalde. Post-war they were also members of the RCAF POW Association. I offer my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Bill Anderson (Son of an old friend of Norman) on: May 01, 2020
