MICHAEL DARRACOTT Peacefully on February 25 at Riverview Health Centre after a lengthy illness and a courageous battle with M.S., Michael passed away at the age of 76. Michael was predeceased by his father Harry and mother Nellie, sister Doreen; and is survived by his brother Jim (Melba). Michael leaves to mourn, his tender, caring and beloved wife Laurine (Wight), of 52 years; children, Debbie, John (Diane) and son-in-law Barry Fawley; grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Rheault, Colleen Fawley, Jason, Lee and Nikki Darracott. Michael was born on June 18, 1926. He joined the Navy on February 1, 1944 and was discharged February 5, 1946. Michael was stationed in England, Ireland and Scotland during his two years on board the SS. Belgic where he was a Signalman. Michael worked at Credit Foncier where he met his future bride. In the early 50s, Michael started his 30 year career at Great West Life where he eventually achieved the title of "Manager - Investment Administration". Michael volunteered at the CNIB for 31 years as a reader and was instrumental in the founding of St. Bartholomews Anglican Church. Michael also held a seat on the board of Canadian Condominium Institute. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. in St. Bartholomews Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Dr. with Rev. William Oakley. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and personnel at Misericordia Health Centre and Riverview Health Centre for the exceptional care given to Michael. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Bartholomews Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2J 1C2. Among all this, Michaels greatest achievements were that of a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
