Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOANNE LYNN PRATT (nee SANDY) Peacefully on March 13, 2003 with her husband Jim by her side, Joanne Lynn Pratt (Sandy) of Maple Ridge, BC passed away at the Ridge Meadows General Hospital in British Columbia Joanne was born November 27, 1955 in Manitoba. She was a member of the Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation. Joanne is survived by her loving husband Jim, and their children, Amanda, Becky, Kaleb, and Dakota; one grandchild, Keagan; brothers, Clayton, Howard, Wes, Earl, Bruce, Carl, and Harvey; sisters, Anita and Lorraine, and father Joe Sandy, and many relatives. Joanne was predeceased by her mother Nora Sandy in 1972. Joanne was a kind and affectionate mother and wife. Her home was always open to those less fortunate, and those who needed a place to stay, sleep and eat. She was very compassionate. Her pride and joy were their children; their needs were always top priority in the home. Her favourite pastime was going to thrift stores and looking for bargains. She loved travelling to Pow-wows and baseball tournaments with her family. She participated in mixed baseball tournaments with her husband Jim, and up until her passing they both encouraged their children to play in competitive leagues, and inspiring them to be their best in whatever goals they desired to achieve and excel at, in fulfilling their dreams. Joanne will be taken to rest beside her Mom. She will be dearly missed by her children and those close to her. A traditional wake service will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 12:00 noon. Services will be held at Sioux Valley Community Hall, Sioux Valley First Nation, Manitoba with Calvin Pompana and John Taylor officiating. Interment to follow at the Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers, Kaleb Pratt, Tyrone Fontaine, Alvin Sandy, Adrian Sandy, Carl Sandy Jr., Nicholas Mini. We, the family, would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff at the Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC, Sioux Valley Chief and Council, all visitors and friends for the prayers, company, comforting words, and support, and those who are able to attend the funeral.
