MANUEL THOMPSON It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, Manuel Thompson, after a brief illness, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, age 78 years. Manuel was predeceased by his parents David and Clara Thompson and by his sisters, Pearl and Celia. He leaves to mourn his devoted children, Ellen (Irwin Glasberg), Sorel (Avi Friedman) and David (Susan Riley) and his beloved grandchildren, Paloma and Ben Friedman, Corey Glasberg, and Piper and Belle Riley Thompson. He also leaves to mourn his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Manuel was born in the north end of Winnipeg on January 12, 1925, and lived his entire life in the city of which he was very proud. He was a businessman in Winnipeg for many years, but his greatest legacy was his unconditional love for his children and grandchildren. He expressed sheer delight in all aspects of their lives and shared his love of music with them. Manuel gave his children the gift of a great optimistic outlook on life. He touched many people with his acts of kindness and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff of 6A South for their compassionate care. Funeral services Thursday, March 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. In Manuels memory, donations may be made to the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, 561 Wellington Cres., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A6.
