Lawrence was a very kind and loving person. A great community worker; served on the Warren School Board for nine years, as Reeve of the RM of Woodlands for six years, as a 4H Leader, Woodlands Community Pasture Board Member, and founding member of the Warren Pool Elevator area. He enjoyed farming, loved his animals, and was a very devoted husband and parent. He was stricken by a severe stroke in 1991. He spent a lot of time in hospital, then at home for two years, Middlechurch Home for three years then transferred to Rosewood Lodge. He appreciated the good care he received, and the folks who visited him. He missed Jeans visits when cancer made it impossible for her to visit very often. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall on Monday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. The service will conclude at the chapel. Friends, who so desire may make donations to Rosewood Lodge. The family would like to express their thanks for all the warm and special attention and care given by the Rosewood Care Home staff. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rights in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the good times we once shared, Miss me - but let me go. MacKenzie Funeral Homes, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.

During my search for Charles Henry Cunnington on behalf of my father Bert Humpherson, (son of Frederick Noel Humpherson, one of Eva Annie's brothers) I came across the Winnipeg Free Press obituary for Charles Lawrence. At this same time, my Mum in-law had died and I 'borrowed', the lovely poem -'Miss Me But Let Me Go', from Charles Lawrence's obituary, to say at her funeral, which was only a few days ago. (The various mawkish extensions added by several people claiming authorship of the poem, were left off!) My father died 27th December 2013 of prostate cancer, in the UK where he lived and I have some idea of the feeling of loss felt by Charles Lawrence's relatives. I have lived in Australia since 1966 and could not be there for him except by 'phone. My best wishes to you all and to the 'soul set free', Charles.
