WILDA BEATTIE On June 28, 2003, Wilda Beattie of 283 Churchill Dr., Winnipeg, passed away at the age of 87 years. Wilda was predeceased by her husband Collin on June 5, 1997; her parents, Irene and Lorne McFadden; brothers, James McFadden and Bruce McFadden and sisters, Donna McLean and Betty Craig. She is survived by brother Beverly, as well as her nieces and nephews and their families. Wilda spent many years in the business world of downtown Winnipeg and thoroughly enjoyed her work and the many people she met. She had decided in 1962 to try gardening, something she had never done before. Looking for help and, with the advice of friends, she joined the Winnipeg Horticultural Society and the Winnipeg African Violet Society. She worked very hard for both Societies and participated in all their activities, including all the many flower shows in the Winnipeg area. Wilda was made an Honourary Life Member of the Winnipeg Horticultural Society and the African Violet Society. Wilda and Collin had many wonderful trips by train, plane and automobile, particularly after Collins retirement. At Wildas request, no service will be held.
