She was predeceased by her loving husband Harold in 1996; by her parents, John and Eliza Coulter; her brother Bill Coulter and his wife Anne; and sister-in-law Lorraine Thompson. Maizie was the daughter of John and Eliza Coulter, longtime market gardeners in the North Kildonan area. She married Hubert Harold Raine on the 4th of November 1939, and together they enjoyed a loving and happy marriage until his passing on August 25, 1996. As a young girl, she competed in Highland dancing competitions with her brother Jim. She loved to knit and sew, and spent many hours on wonderful needlepoint pictures for her children. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best and no one could make them like Mum. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was courageous in her battle with MS, she never questioned or complained when she could no longer do the things she loved to do. She had the unique ability to make each of us feel special. We will miss her and linger over her memory each day. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the Middlechurch Home for their excellent care.
