JUNE BROOKS (nee SMITH) May 23, 1924 - August 13, 2003 Peacefully on August 13, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre, June Brooks, aged 79 years, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. June is predeceased by her husband Jack; her brothers, Herb and Ernie Smith; and sister Irene Wright. She leaves to mourn her daughter Colleen Johnston and husband David; nieces, Bonnie Hubert (John) and Janet Richen (Doug) nephew Gerry Smith (Barb) and many great-nieces and nephews. June was born in Ninette, MB and later moved to Winnipeg. Prior to her marriage to Jack, she worked at the Canadian Wheat Board and later for several years at Eatons. June, Jack and Colleen moved to Stony Mountain and spent many wonderful years where June became President of the Ladies Curling Club and the United Church Womens Group. Family was always the centre of her life. Moms sense of fun, quick wit and love of laughter will remain among our most cherished memories. Our thanks to Dr. Pat Harris, WRHA home care as well as Dr. Garcia and staff of Riverview 3 East for their unwavering support and compassionate care. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. "I know how much you love me, as much as I love you. And each time you think of me I know youll miss me too. So when tomorrow starts without me, Dont think were far apart For every time you think of me, Im right here in your heart."
