MICHAEL PYL On August 13, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, Michael Pyl passed on to his heavenly reward. Michael is survived by his wife of 57 years Maria; his son Walter (Darlene) grandchildren, Michael and Kalyn; his daughter Steffie Wawrykow (Dennis) granddaughters, Teresa, Mika and Krista; and extended family in Ukraine. Born October 9, 1922 in Drohobich, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine, Michael met Maria in Germany following the war. They came to their new country of Canada in 1950 and worked hard to build a life for their family. Michael worked many years for CN Railways until his retirement in 1984. He spent many hours working in his garden and was generous with the fruits of his labour. In later years, together with Maria, he took numerous trips, including a special visit to Ukraine to be reunited with family members. Michael was a member of St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church and served in various capacities for nearly fifty years. Recently he was a parish controller, and a member of the Mens Club and Seniors Club. Michael was always more than willing to help his children and grandchildren. He took great interest and pride in their activities and accomplishments. His grandchildren had a special place in his heart and gave him great joy. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff in CCU, CVT, and especially SICU, at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Prayers will be at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Thursday, August 21 at 8:00 p.m. with the Funeral Divine Liturgy at St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 22, Redemptoris Fathers officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. We miss you, we love you, we will always remember you. Vichnaya Pamyat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
