ELLEN LOUISE THOMPSON Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ellen Louise Thompson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2003 at Charleswood Care Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Bill Thompson (Val) and grandson William Thompson of Edmonton, AB; daughter Linda Bloom and granddaughter Jennifer Bloom of Winnipeg and grandson David Bloom of Edmonton. Ellen was born and attended elementary school in Oxbow, SK. In 1930 her parents, Harry and Florence Halliwell, moved their family to Wolseley, SK where she completed high school. Ellen was a catcher for a softball team, a golfer, a curler, a cook and baker, a gardener and a pianist. These interests, developed in her youth, continued throughout her life. Her first husband, Airman Benjamin Hamilton of Calgary, was killed in a plane crash in 1945, and she remarried another serviceman, Murray Thompson, in 1950. Ellen was a member of the Sturgeon Creek United Church and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. Ellen was predeceased by her first husband Benjamin George Hamilton (1945) husband Walter Murray Thompson (1994) her youngest sister Florence Bergman; nephew Cory Tiffin; sister and brother-in-law Helen and Fred Schneider; sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Don Dorazio and brother-in-law Jack Hamilton. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews; by her sister Margaret Terry of Saskatoon, SK; her brother and sister-in-law David and Betty Halliwell of Victoria, BC; brother Nils Bergman of Kenora, ON; brother and sister-in-law Harry and Edna Halliwell of Ottawa, ON and all of their children and grandchildren. Saskatchewan was always home to Ellen and she will rest in the Oxbow Cemetery beside her husband Murray and close to her parents, her maternal and fraternal grandparents and aunts. A memorial service will be held at the Charleswood Care Centre, November 4 at 7:00 p.m. She lived a full, satisfying life because she gave herself to others. We will always remember her with love.
