LORNE ROBERT PRESTON Peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 3, 2003, Lorne Preston passed away at his home at the age of 60 years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the St. Johns United Church in Thompson on Tuesday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie King officiating. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Portage la Prairie, MB at a later date. Lorne was born April 26, 1943 in Morden, MB to Mervil and Bessie Preston. He attended elementary and high school in Pilot Mound, MB, where his family had a farm. In 1960 he met Lorna Sanburn and on January 11, 1964 they were married, their two daughters were soon to follow. Lorne and family moved to Thompson in 1968. In 1969 Lorne was hired by Inco Limited Manitoba Division where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Lorne enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, especially cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events and supporting the entire family in all their endeavors. Lorne leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lorna; daughters, Patricia Preston and Heather (Chris) Hildebrandt; two grandchildren, Trystain and Payton of Thompson; sister Noreen (Lloyd) Paterson of Pilot Mound, MB; aunts, Irma Mathers and Sadie Preston of Pilot Mound, MB; in-laws, Brian (Marion) Sanburn of Winnipeg, MB and Lynne (George) Scott of Portage la Prairie, MB; as well as many nieces and nephews.
