KLAAS TIEL On Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Klaas Tiel, aged 94 years of Betel Home, Selkirk and formerly of Teulon, MB. Surviving to mourn his loss, his wife Wanda; children, John (Laura) Tiel, Jenny (Peter) Boer, Margaret (Bert) Hoftyzer, John Nick (Berdina) Tiel, Nelly (John) Witvoet, Abram (Alice) Tiel; 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister Margaret Zwier of Owen Sound, ON; Wandas family Connie (Steve) Drebit, Barry (Shirley) Jeske; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Nelly on December 22, 1987 and by two brothers and three sisters in the Netherlands. Klaas was born December 15, 1908 in Heer-Hugowaard, Holland. He married Nelly in 1931, and together they immigrated to Canada on April 29, 1949 along with their six children. He farmed in the Balmoral area and remained in the Interlake even after he retired. In 1989 Klaas married Wanda Jeske. He enjoyed the outdoors and travelling with Wanda throughout their years together. He especially loved to sing in the church choir. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. Pastor Terry Throndson will officiate. Interment to follow in South Victoria Cemetery, Stonewall. Pallbearers will be Klaas grandsons Ken Boer, Wayne Boer, Allan Tiel, Doug Tiel, Glen Tiel, Ken Tiel, Andy Tiel, Michael Tiel. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Teulon, or a charity of ones choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
